Moss Kogei Kyoto
2026年10月16日〜18日、京都・鷹峯で工芸をめぐるイベント「Moss Kogei Kyoto」を開催します。17世紀にまで遡る歴史を持つしょうざんの敷地内で、伝統工芸および現代工芸作家による展示・販売、茶事、体験型ワークショップ、講演、実演、食体験などを行います。磁器、陶芸、漆、木工、金工、ガラス、染織、和紙——日本の工芸の広がりを紹介します。
On October 16–18, 2026, we hold Moss Kogei Kyoto, a craft event at Takagamine in Kyoto. Set on the grounds of Shozan, whose history reaches back to the 17th century, it presents exhibitions by established and contemporary kogei artisans alongside workshops, lectures, demonstrations, dining, and tea ceremonies — the full breadth of Japanese craft: ceramics, lacquer, woodwork, metalwork, glass, textiles, and washi.
しょうざんの中心には名高い苔庭が広がります。この青々とした苔の絨毯にちなみ、「Moss Kogei」と名づけました。中心となる茶の湯は、由緒ある茶室で行われ、人と茶と工芸の交わりの精神がイベント全体を貫いています。
戦後、社会は大きく変革しました。工芸が「社会の鏡」であるならば、私たちは新しい時代の「用の美」を考え、研究し、挑戦します。工芸を通して、環境・AI・ジェンダー・歴史・現代の暮らしといった大きな問いに向き合う——それがこのイベントの核です。
At the heart of Shozan lies a celebrated moss garden — the living carpet of green from which Moss Kogei takes its name. The tea ceremony central to the event unfolds in Shozan's original tea houses, and its ethos of communion between people, tea, and craftsmanship informs the whole.
Since the postwar era, society has transformed profoundly. If craft is a "mirror of society," then we must contemplate, research, and challenge what "the beauty of use" (用の美) means in this new age — addressing the great questions of our time: the environment, AI, gender, history, and the lives lived through them.

会場のしょうざんは、1615年に本阿弥光悦が徳川家康より鷹峯の地を拝領し、一族や職人・芸術家と移り住んで築いた「芸術村」の跡地にあります。書・陶芸・漆工が融合し、琳派の源流ともいえる芸術コミュニティが生まれました。約3万5千坪の庭園には、光悦が愛した鷹峯の自然が今も息づいています。
Shozan sits on the site of the Artisan Village founded in 1615, when Hon'ami Kōetsu was granted the lands of Takagamine and settled here with a collective of master artisans. Calligraphy, ceramics, and lacquerware converged into a community that became a fountainhead of the Rinpa school. Across 28 acres of gardens, the nature Kōetsu revered still breathes.
